If you are visiting the Malibu or Los Angeles area for a family vacation, taking a family photoshoot is seriously the best souvenir you can gift you and your family. There are so many beautiful spots to capture beach sessions at, especially if you are from out of town where there is not a beach local. These memories will last forever and it’s the best time to capture the whole family, even grandma, grandpa, aunts uncles etc. Fun to include family members you might not normally have all in one place. A Malibu family vacation photoshoot is definitely a must if you’re visiting!

This sweet family was from Utah so they wanted to make sure that they captured their photos at the beach and they couldn’t have picked a better evening. The sun was perfect, the glow was beautiful and the babies did spectacularly well. It was truly so fun!

It’s always an extra plus to capture little ones who are around the same age as my daughter. It’s like I totally know what the parents are experiencing and it’s so easy to interact and know what the little babes want, which is usually just running around and singing songs. That is why my sessions are no longer than about an hour max (sometimes shorter) and also why candids work out so perfect. Some of my favorite images from this session are the candid moments I saw throughout. If you think that your family won’t have any beautiful moments to capture candidly, trust me when I say it always happens and I am pretty good at making those candid moments happen, if I do say so myself :).

This family consisted of two families plus grandma and grandpa so we made sure to break the session into little sections so everyone received a few photos of their immediate families and then different variations with the cousins, grandparents and individuals.

When it comes to outfit coordination for a larger group like this, it’s important to give everyone a couple colors to go off of and then everyone can pick what they feel comfortable in. It helps keep some cohesiveness within the group but not that perfectly matchy matchy look, the thing we try to avoid. Having a little mis matching is actually the goal for all of my sessions. For this family, they chose to do beiges and blues and I would say they did a phenomenal job. Such great colors for a photoshoot by the sea!

I had so much fun with this Malibu family vacation photoshoot and now this family has the most gorgeous beach memories to take with them forever, the most precious souvenir they could ever have purchased.
