5 Tips for Gorgeous Fall Maternity Portraits in Ventura County

Are you a soon to be mama looking to capture your adorable bump (or at least pretend to feel like it looks adorable for some photos hehe)- I know pregnancy isn’t always butterflies and rainbows but I am here to make sure your photos look that way! Here are 5 tips for gorgeous fall maternity portraits in Ventura County.

CHOOSE THE PERFECT OUTFIT:
I have always and will likely always be a dress fan for maternity photos however there are some exceptions- think a cute flowy pant vibe but for fall ,maternity portraits in Ventura County, I think something warm and cozy would be so cute! This soon to be mama wore a sweater dress and it was the perfect vibe- enough to show off the bump, flattering, warm and comfy!

Also, don’t forget the bottom half because your feet will show in some photos and the worst is having everything all picture perfect and then the shoes become an eye sore and throw off the whole vibe of your photoshoot. If you are opting for a beach session, we generally don’t wear shoes but bring a nice simple pair of flats to have just in case we capture some shots before we head down to the coast. If you are opting for a field session or session by the mountains, a nice pair of simple slides or cute boots works perfect- I am lovingggg this vibe right now!

FIND THE PERFECT LOCATION:

Don’t worry, I have your back on choosing the perfect spot. Since we live in socal and the beach is always home, that is always a beautiful location especially a fall sunset! I also have options for a more traditional fall vibe in a field/mountain type scenery. Either way, we can incorporate colors and textures in what you wear to make it more or less fall- depending on whatever you want.

SCHEDULE DURING THE PERFECT LIGHT:

I am also here to help with this if you are wanting that dreamy light, we will work together to pick the time I love to shoot to get those moody, dreamy, timeless images for you. If we are opting for a session off of the coast, it is less crucial but that glow is still always beautiful. I photograph at all hours of the day so don’t fret if you can’t make a golden hour session work, we will work together to get the best light that works during when you are able to schedule your session.

ADD IN PERSONAL TOUCHES:

A lot of my maternity clients like to incorporate small details that add a personal memory for you all to enjoy- think ultrasounds, cute vintage baby shoes, a onesie- you get the point hehe. Either way, with or without props these will be treasured forever and always hold such a special place in your heart.

BRING YOUR FAVORITE PEOPLE OR PUPS:

If you already have children, include them!! If grandparents want to come and join or help out, I love grabbing some shots of them included as well. Finally, I fully know that our fur babies are children too so if the location you have decided on allows for pups, feel free to bring and include them as well!
